MILLS BROTHERS - TIGER RAG - 1932

The Mills Brothers were known as "The Four Kings of Harmony". They got their first break in 1928 after winning an audition at an Ohio radio station. The brothers were known for amazing their audience by imitating the sounds of musical instruments, all while singing accompanied only by a guitar - a ukulele at first. The unique vocal group got their next big break when Duke Ellington discovered them in Cincinnati. After see the Mills Brothers performance, Ellington quickly got them signed. By 1930 the brothers had their own radio show in New York City. They were the first African-American group to have their own network radio show. In 1931, they had their first #1 hit with The Tiger Rag. In their busy career they made over 2000 recordings - including more than three dozen gold records.
In 1932, The Mills Brothers appeared in their first film - The Big Broadcast. The same year they also appeared in their first Max Fleischer "follow the bouncing ball" Screen Songs cartoon I Ain't Got Nobody. Later, in 1933, they appeared in the Screen Songs cartoon Dinah and in When Yuba Plays The Rhumba On The Tuba. The Mills Brothers appeared in:
