In the late 1800's Will F. Denny was a pioneer of the recording business - his first recordings were made in 1891. Denny became famous touring the vaudeville stages, and he was known for his popular comic numbers. In a Sept. 11th 1901 recording session for Victor Records he recorded nine songs, including Any Old Place I Can Hang My Hat Is Home Sweet Home To Me. In 1932, the Betty Boop's Up's and Down's short revives Denny's true-to-life number. Will F. Denny died in 1908 when he was 48 years old, while touring the Vaudeville circuit. Any Old Place I Can Hang My Hat Is Home Sweet Home To Me was written by the well-known and popular songwriting duo William Jerome and Jean Schwartz. The two are known for many hit songs, including Bedelia and Chinatown, My Chinatown.
