KING OF THE MARDI GRAS  (POPEYE)  1935
King Of The Mardi Gras is a classic theatrical Popeye short from 1935. This was Fleischer's 26th Popeye cartoon, and the first to feature Jack Mercer as the voice of Popeye. In the musical number, Popeye and Bluto sing I'm King Of The Mardi Gras, it is a song written by Sammy Timberg with lyricist Bob Rothberg. At the end of the film Popeye is the undisputed King of the Mardi Gras. At the time Popeye was the real-life king of cartoons - the leading sailor had been ranked the number one favorite cartoon character amongst kids in a U.S. nationwide poll.
