I Ain't Got Nobody is said to have been written in 1915 by Roger A. Graham, with lyrics by Spencer Williams. The song was a major hit in the 1920's and 1930's, and it still remains popular today. Ever since the song was copyrighted in 1915, there have been disputes over who actually was the author of the song. Marion Harris, the first popular white jazz and blues singer, was the first to have a hit with the song in 1915. In 1932, I Ain't Got Nobody was featured in a Screen Songs short featuring The Mills Brothers. Many years later, in 1956, the song was recorded by Louis Prima, who recorded it as a melody with I'm Just A Gigolo. Since then the two songs have been forever attached. That melody has also been recorded by David Lee Roth and many others.

I AIN'T GOT NOBODY
There's been a sayin' goin' round
And I begin to think it's true
It's awful hard to love someone
When they don't care about you
Once I had a lovin' gal
The sweetest little thing in town
But now she's gone and left me
She done turn me down
Now I ain't got nobody, and nobody cares for me!
That's why I'm sad and lonely,
Won't somebody come and take a chance with me?
I'll sing you love songs, honey, all the time,
If you'll only say you'll be sweet gal of mine,
Oh, I ain't got nobody, nobody cares for me!
(Instrumental Break)
I'll sing you love songs, honey, all the time,
If you'll only say you'll be sweet gal of mine,
Oh, I ain't got nobody, nobody cares for me!
There's been a sayin' goin' round
And I begin to think it's true
It's awful hard to love someone
When they don't care about you
Once I had a lovin' gal
The sweetest little thing in town
But now she's gone and left me
She done turn me down
Now I ain't got nobody, and nobody cares for me!
That's why I'm sad and lonely,
Won't somebody come and take a chance with me?
I'll sing you love songs, honey, all the time,

Oh, I ain't got nobody, nobody cares for me!
