ACCORDIAN JOE
ACCORDIAN JOE (TALKARTOONS) 1930 - NO VIDEO AVAILABLE - Accordion Joe was composed in 1929 by Hungarian accordionist and bandleader Cornell Smelser. From 1928 to 1931 Smeltzer was a member of Duke Ellington's Orchestra - Duke Ellington and The Jungle Band. By 1931 he was leading his own orchestra, with Jimmy Dorsey amongst its members. In 1920, the song Accordion Joe was the plot basis for a Max Fleischer Talkartoon short. The following year, in 1931, the song appeared in the film Dance, Fools, Dance.
