Yak-A-Hula-Hick-A-Doola, also known as Hawaiian Love Song, was written by E.Ray Goetz, Joe Young and Pete Wendling. Goetz, the songs lyricist, was the composer of many other novelty hits including Hokey-Pokey, Hanky-Panky, Roley-Poly and Hitchy-Koo. He also was a successful producer, director and author. He was married to actress and singer Irene Bordoni, and his younger sister was married to Irving Berlin - she died at the age of 20 from typhoid fever which she contracted on their honeymoon. In 1916, Al Jolsen's recording of Yak-A-Hula-Hick-A-Doola was #2 on the charts. At the time Hawaiian themed songs were very popular. In 1926 the song was used for an installment of Max Fleischer's Song Car-Tunes Series, featuring The Bouncing Ball
