Curt Massey was a musician, composer and singer, he was well-known as the composer and singer of the Petticoat Junction theme song. He came from a musical family that performed under various names, such as Louise Massey and the Westerners. Curt's father started the band, which included his brother and sister, and himself on violin. In 1936, Curt and his family made their screen debut in the Screen Songs short The Hills of Wyoming'. The following year they appeared again in the Screen Songs short Twilight on the Trail. By the mid-1940's Curt was a popular personality on old-time radio. He was the star of numerous radio programs through the 40's and 50's, and in the late 1950's he also had a television program - notably broadcast in color. He composed and sang the theme song for Petticoat Junction - a popular television show from 1963-1970, and he appeared on a couple of episodes. He also composed over 400 episodes of Petticoat Junction and The Beverly Hillbillies.
