In 1931, composer Sammy Timberg took on his first job with Fleischer Studios. He worked alongside the Fleischer brothers as the studio's resident composer until the studio was broken up in 1942. Timberg's first project was Musical Justice - a live action short starring Rudy Vallee and Mae Questel as Betty Boop. Timberg composed the song Don't Take My Boop-Oop-A-Doop Away for the film. The song, which would become one of Betty's signature songs, was sung by Betty after the judge finds her guilty of breaking "every law of music." The song was used again in the animated short Boop-Oop-A-Doop - a 1932 installment of the Talkartoons series. The song was also Mae Questel's first recording on the Victor label.
