I'M YOURS - ETHEL MERMAN & JOHNNY GREEN
SONG SHOPPING (SCREEN SONGS) 1933
SONG SHOPPING (SCREEN SONGS) 1933

In 1930, I'm Yours was composed by songwriter Johnny Green with legendary lyricist E.Y. Harburg for the Paramount film Leave It To Lester (a "lost" film that may have been never even been released). The song was recorded several times that year and became somewhat popular. In 1933 the song was featured in the Screen Songs short Song Shopping, where it was one of two songs performed by Ethel Merman, with Johnny Green on piano. The previous year, in 1932, Green had composed the theme song for Fleischer's Betty Boop cartoon series. Green later went on to win five Academy Awards, and he earned himself a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. He was also inducted into the Songwriters hall Of Fame in 1972.

I'M YOURS
How can I happy
I would be to beg or borrow
For sorrow
With you
Even though I knew
Tomorrow
You'd say we were through
If we drift apart
Then I'll be lost and alone
Though you use my heart
Just for a steppin' stone
How can I help dreaming of you
I love you
I'm yours
How can I happy
I would be to beg or borrow
For sorrow
With you
Even though I knew
Tomorrow
You'd say we were through
If we drift apart
Then I'll be lost and alone
Though you use my heart
Just for a steppin' stone
How can I help dreaming of you
I love you
I'm yours
