Harry Warren is considered to be the first major American songwriter to write primarily for film. He has written over 800 songs, and his songs have appeared in over 300 different films. Additionally, his songs have been featured in many cartoons, including 112 different Warner Brothers cartoons (Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies). He has received the Oscar nomination for Best Song eleven times, and his 1941 hit Chattanooga Choo Choo was the first gold record in history. In 1929, Warren's Here We Go was recorded by Annette Hanshaw, and it was then featured in the 1933 short Betty Boop's May Party, where it is sung by Ann Little as Betty Boop. The song was recently revived in the 2008 animated musical romantic comedy-drama Sita Sings The Blues. The multiple award-winning film used Hanshaw's original recordings of Here We Are, and several of her other songs. Due to copyright restrictions surrounding the recordings, the film ultimately committed itself to an unorthodox distribution arrangement .

HERE WE ARE
I hate to think what might have been if we had never met
Why should I suppose that this could be
The weary days, the lonely nights, are easy to forget
Since I am here, and you are here with me
Here we are, you and I
Let the world hurry by
Even while I waited, somehow, dear, I knew
You'd find me, I'd find you
Here we are, alone together
What matter whether we wander far
And though we haven't got a bankfull
We can still be thankful
That here, that here we are
(Instrumental Break)
Here we are, you and I
Let the world just hurry by
Even while I waited, somehow, dear, I knew
You'd find me, and I'd find you
Here we are, alone together
What matter whether we wander far
And though we haven't got a bankfull
We can still be thankful
That here we are
That's all!
I hate to think what might have been if we had never met
Why should I suppose that this could be
The weary days, the lonely nights, are easy to forget
Since I am here, and you are here with me
Here we are, you and I
Let the world hurry by
Even while I waited, somehow, dear, I knew
You'd find me, I'd find you
Here we are, alone together
What matter whether we wander far
And though we haven't got a bankfull
We can still be thankful
That here, that here we are
(Instrumental Break)
Here we are, you and I
Let the world just hurry by
Even while I waited, somehow, dear, I knew
You'd find me, and I'd find you
Here we are, alone together
What matter whether we wander far
And though we haven't got a bankfull
We can still be thankful
That here we are
That's all!
