Ya Gotta Have Pep was written by Sammy Timberg with lyricist Bob Rothberg for the 1936 Betty Boop short More Pep. Mae Questel sings the song as Betty Boop in this classic Fleischer cartoon that features Pudgy and an appearance of Max Fleischer as Uncle Max. In 2006, actor, comedian and musician John Lithgow revived the song on his third children's album - The Sunny Side Of The Street. In more recent years, the Lithgow remake of the song has been a popular dance performance song.
