OH MABEL (SONG CAR-TOONS) 1924
|
Oh Mabel was one of the earliest songs by composer and orchestra leader Ted Fio Rito. His first recording of the song was in 1924. By the late 1920's and 1930's Fio Rito and his orchestra were having their performances broadcast as popular radio shows. Among the many vocalists who were a part of Fio Rito's orchestra were Billy Murray and young Betty Grable. In 1924, Oh Mabel was used for the second film in Fleischer Studio's Song Car-Tunes series - it was the first sound film of the series. And it was the first film in the series to use the Phonofilm optical sound-on-film process which had been developed by Lee De Forrest and Theodore Case.
