Harry Arlen and Ted Koehler's popular jazz standard Stormy Weather - also known as Keep's Raining All The Time - is a 1933 torch song classic. It was first performed by Ethel Waters at Harlem's Cotton Club night club. She recorded the song later that year, as did several other popular performers. Also in 1933, the Cotton Club sent their entire floor revue on a tour to various cities, the tour was billed as The Cotton Club Parade of 1933. Because of the popularity of the song the tour's name was changed to The Stormy Weather Revue. On January 12th, 1934 the Fleischer Studio's Screen Song's installment featuring the song was released, with the song performed by musical newcomer Gertrude Niesen. In 2003, the Ethel Water's recording of Stormy Weather was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame, and in 2004 it was added to The Library Of Congress' National Recording Registry. The song's composer Harry Arlen wrote over 500 songs, including the music for The Wizard Of Oz, which featured the number 1 song of the 20th century - Over the Rainbow.

(STORMY WEATHER) IT KEEPS RAININ' ALL THE TIME
Don't know why
There's no sun up in the sky
Stormy weather
Since my man and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time
Life is bare
Gloom and misery everywhere
Stormy weather
Just can't get my poor self together
I'm weary all the time, the time
So weary all of the time
When he went away
The blues walked in and met me
If he stays away, old rocking chair will get me
All I do is pray
The lord above will let me
Walk in the sun once more
Can't go on
Everything I had is gone
Stormy weather
Since my man and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time
Keeps raining all of the time
I walk around,
Heavy-hearted and sad
Night comes around
And I'm still feeling bad
Rain pourin' down
Blinding every hope I had
This pitter 'n patter 'n beatin' 'n spatterin' drivin' me mad
Love, love, love, love
This misery will be the end of me
(bridge)
When he went away
The blues walked in and met me
If he stays away, old rocking chair will get me
All I do is pray
The lord above will let me
Walk in the sun once more
Can't go on
Everything I had is gone
Stormy weather
Since my man and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time, the time
Keeps raining all the time
Don't know why
There's no sun up in the sky
