In 1924, Why Did I Kiss The Girl was a pop hit for Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra. The recording hit #24 on the pop charts, and it was recorded by a dozen others that year. In the 1934 Talkartoon short A Hunting We Will Go, Betty Boop sings the song as "Why Did You Scare Those Bears." The original  lyrics for Why Did I Kiss The Girl were written by Tin Pan Alley songwriter Lew Brown.
