DANCING TO SAVE YOUR SOLE - sung by Kate Wright as Betty Boop
THE DANCING FOOL (TALKARTOONS) 1932 Dancing To Save You Sole was written for the all-star 1930 film Paramount On Parade. The popular American film was shot in numerous languages, including: Spanish, French, Italian, Romanian, Dutch, German, Scandinavian, Polish, Japanese, Czech, Hungarian and Serbian. Dancing To Save Your Sole was written by Tin Pan Alley songwriters Abel Bear and lyricist L. Wolfe Gilbert. Baer had worked in New York composing the scores of Broadway musicals, and Gilbert was well-known since his first hit song from 1912 - Waiting For The Robert E. Lee. In 1929 Baer and Gilbert both moved to Hollywood, where the two formed a team and produced songs for Paramount On Parade and other films. In 1932, Dancing To Save Your Sole was featured in Fleischer's 1932 Talkartoon short The Dancing Fool, performed by Kate Wright as Betty Boop.

DANCING TO SAVE YOUR SOLE
Heel toe start with your right foot,
C'mon, let's go dancing to save your sole.
Ready all slide do it together,
Now you try dancing to save your sole.
Ready
Heel, toe resting on that foot,
Don't show that you are a flat foot,
Let's go dancing to save your sole.
Heel toe start with your right foot,
Dance slow using a light foot,
Let's go!
Ha-Cha-Ha-Cha-Cha-Cha!
Off side do it together,
Just like using a lever,
Okay!
Daddy-Oh-Bo-Bo-Be-Bo-Bah!
When there's another makes you go weary deary,
It's easy just like taking a stroll.
Heel toe resting on that foot,
Don't show you are a flat foot,
Let's go!
Vo-Do-De-O-De-Do-De-O!
Da-Dum-De-Da-De-Da-De-Da!
Da-Dum-De-Ah-De-Ah-Do!
Hmph... I did it tha 'o didn't know!
Heel toe start with your right foot,
C'mon, let's go dancing to save your sole.
Ready all slide do it together,
Now you try dancing to save your sole.
Ready
Heel, toe resting on that foot,
Don't show that you are a flat foot,
Let's go dancing to save your sole.
